Lewisham Borough Council
Refurbish old refuse bins into "NEW" recycling bins
Over the last 2 years PREMIER CLEAN have partnered with Lewisham Borough Council in their roll-out of new refuse bins. Each household in the borough received a new and smaller domestic refuse bin, thus encouraging local residents to recycle more of their refuse.
Lewisham Council had previously used a kerb side box collection, with the advent of smaller refuse bins they needed to increase the size of recycling bins.
This was achieved by returning 20,000 of the old refuse bins to a central site where PREMIER CLEAN removed the old bin lid and replaced it with a new green lid. This lid was then labelled with instructions, and the bin thoroughly steam cleaned and fully disinfected inside and out by PREMIER CLEAN, leaving the bin as good as new.
The bins were then distributed to residents to use as their new recycling bin.
This project saved the council considerable expense in respect of replacing their bins, as well as reducing the carbon footprint that would have been involved had they fully replaced the bins with new units.
Distributing information leaflets regarding recycling
As we already cover a large proportion of the Lewisham area, we were ideally positioned to assist Lewisham Borough Council in the distribution of new leaflets informing residence of the change to Lewisham's recycing policy - where another company would have perhaps had to travel to the area and contribute to the traffic and pollution.
Upon winning this contract, PREMIER CLEAN were required to distribute 50,000 adhesive labels to all the recycling bins around the borough.
PREMIER CLEAN were contracted with 13 weeks allowed to complete this task, and despite the inclement weather this was achieved in just 7 weeks.
This involved recruiting and organising the labour required, remove the old adhesive stickers, and place the new informational stickers in a highly visible position onto all the recycling bins in the borough.
